What kind of infection is MRSA ?
A
Healthcare associated infection or community acquired infection.

What are the signs and symptoms ?
A
Deep seated abscesses
Osteomyelitis
Infective endocarditis
Wound

How would you diagnose it ?
A
Microscopy and cultures of wounds. Blood cultures. Repeat blood cultures 72 hours after commencing therapy. Imaging. Transthoracic endocardiography (TOE).

What is the basis of treatment for MRSA ?
A
Antibiotic therapy: Vancomycin.
