A pet scan is used to show the activity in the different parts of he brain, they inject glucose into the blood stream and depending on the amount absorbed by the different parts of the brain depends on the activity.

A
An MRI scan uses strong magnetic fields to take pictures of different slices of the brain.

Why would an MRI scan be used.
A
It would be used to see if there was any abnormal growths in the brain or any internal bleeding/leaking. It might also show if there is any internal damage.
