Fundamental movement skills (FMS)
basis of all movements in sport.
Closed motor skills
closed motor skills are performed in a predictable, self-paced environment with low inter-trial variability
Open motor skills
open motor skills are performed in a constantly changing, externally paced environment with high inter-trial variability
fine motor skills
delicate, precise movements that engage the use of small muscle groups
gross motor skills
movements involving the use of large muscle groups, resulting in a coordinated action
Discrete motor skills
discrete motor skills involve movements of brief duration that are easily defined by a distinct beginning and end
Serial motor skills
serial motor skills a series or group of discrete skills strung together to create a more complicated, skilled action
Continuous motor skill
continuous motor skills have no distinct beginning or end

something or someone that has a positive effect on a person’s movement skills
Barrier
something or someone that has a negative effect on a person’s movement skills
