- Movement should always be with cover
- Identify what affords you “cover from fire” or “cover from view”
- Try to maintain a visual/audible distance from your partner
- Ensure situational and spatial awareness
- Try to avoid bunching or crowding cover
- Identify your point of cover before you move
- Do not unwillingly move past uncleared space

- Minimise your profile and presentation
- See as much of the room as possible before crossing the threshold
- Work at a pace you can process information
- Where possible keep threats ahead of you
- Maintain awareness and cover in a 360 degrees environment
- Control the pace of the search
- Prioritise your threat areas - Move to known threats expediently
