Excited Delirium
Bizarre and/or maniac behaviour, more than just simply violent. Including shouting, paranoia, panic, unexpected physical strength, hyperthermia, usually caused by mental illness and/or use of drugs.
Treat as Priority 1 medical emergency (Call SJA Priority 1)
Positional Asphyxia
Occurs when the position of a person’s body position interferes with their ability to breath.
Treat as Priority 1 medical emergency (Call SJA Priority 1)
OC Spray
Medical care must be obtained if
The subject doesn’t recover in a reasonable time (45 minutes)
The subject asks for medical care
You suspect the subject is suffering from a medical condition
Salbutamol (Ventilation) inhaler has been administered
Taser - Ambulance Priority 1 ‘Medical Emergency’
Known/suspected/claimed heart condition
Displaying signs of excited delirium
Displaying the signs of positional asphyxia
Fallen to the ground in an uncontrolled manner sustaining a forceful contact of the head with a hard surface
Taser - Not a priority, seek ‘medical care’
Does not recover within a reasonable time (few seconds)
Asks for medical attention
Reasonably suspected of suffering from a medical condition
Probes embedded in genitals, breasts, eyes, tongue, lips or any other sensitive body part
Known/suspected/claimed mental health issues
Known/suspected/claimed to be pregnant
Serious Injury
Any injury requiring professional
medical treatment
Bodily Injury
Something more than just merely a sensation of pain (damage to bone, muscle, tendon, skin, organ or any part of which the human body is constructed)
Medical Care
Professional treatment for injury or illness (Nurse, Doctor, Paramedic, Dentist, etc)
