movement analysis Flashcards
PUSH UP PHASE, from floor to plank
Scapula
Joint position/motion: Retracted, downwardly rotated and elevated moving into protraction, up rotation and (maybe..) depression
Muscle group Active: Serratus anterior, LT, UT force couple
PUSH UP PHASE, from floor to plank
Shoulder
Joint position/motion: Extended moving into 80-90 degrees of flexion/horizontal adduction
Muscle group Active: Pecs – clavicular portion mainly, anterior delt, biceps
Type of muscle contraction: concentric
PUSH UP PHASE, from floor to plank
Elbow
Joint position/motion: Flexed moving into extension
Muscle group Active: triceps
Type of muscle contraction: concentric
PUSH UP PHASE, from floor to plank
Wrist
Joint position/motion: extended
Muscle group Active: Co-contraction of wrist flexors and extensors
Type of muscle contraction: Isometric
PUSH UP PHASE, from floor to plank
Fingers
Joint position/motion: extended
Muscle group Active: Co-contraction
Type of muscle contraction: Isometric
STEP UP PHASE stepping up leg – start with foot on step
Pelvis
Joint position/motion: Neutral (maybe slight posterior pelvic tilt) moving to neutral
Muscle group Active: Passive due to flexion of hip
STEP UP PHASE stepping up leg – start with foot on step
Hip
Joint position/motion: Flexed moving to neutral extension
Muscle group Active: Glutes/hams
Type of muscle contraction: concentric
STEP UP PHASE stepping up leg – start with foot on step
Knee
Joint position/motion: Flexed moving to full extension
Muscle group Active: quads
Type of muscle contraction: concentric
STEP UP PHASE stepping up leg – start with foot on step
Ankle
Joint position/motion: Plantarflexion/Neutral to dorsi flexion to neutral depending on person
Muscle group Active: Eccentric gastrocs controlling DF as tibia advances over foot, to concentric gastrocs to pull back to neutral DF
STEP UP PHASE stepping up leg – start with foot on step
Foot
Joint position/motion: Neutral moving to pronation to neutral
Muscle group Active: Toe flexors, concentric;
Post. Tib eccentric if foot is pronating, FL/FB isometric
LOWERING PHASE
Focus on stance leg –leg that remains on step
Pelvis
Joint position/motion: Sl lateral tilt to opposite leg
Muscle group Active: Glute med
Type of muscle contraction: Conc/isom
LOWERING PHASE
Focus on stance leg –leg that remains on step
Hip
Joint position/motion: Extended moving into flexion
Muscle group Active: Glute max and hams ES controlling hip extension
Type of muscle contraction: Eccentric
LOWERING PHASE
Focus on stance leg –leg that remains on step
Knee
Joint position/motion: Flexed moving to full extension
Muscle group Active: quads
Type of muscle contraction: concentric
LOWERING PHASE
Focus on stance leg –leg that remains on step
Ankle
Joint position/motion: Extended moving into flexion
Muscle group Active: quads
Type of muscle contraction: Eccentric
LOWERING PHASE
Focus on stance leg –leg that remains on step
Foot
Joint position/motion: Neutral to dorsiflexion (if stepping over) or neutral to plantarflexion
Muscle group Active: gastroc
Type of muscle contraction: Eccentric
QUADRUPED ROCKING
ROCKING FORWARD PHASE from table top
lumbar spine
Joint position/motion: Neutral moving into extension
Muscle group Active: Initiated by hip extensor (concentric)
Gravity could be the prime mover depending on the mover’s position, so abs and hip flexors controlling eccentric hip and spine extension
QUADRUPED ROCKING
ROCKING FORWARD PHASE from table top
pelvis
Joint position/motion: Neutral moving to anterior tilt
QUADRUPED ROCKING
ROCKING FORWARD PHASE from table top
hip
Joint position/motion: Flexed moving to extension
Muscle group Active: Initiated by hip extensor (concentric)
Gravity prime mover, eccentric hip flexors
QUADRUPED ROCKING
ROCKING FORWARD PHASE from table top
knee
Joint position/motion: Flexed moving to extension
Muscle group Active: Concentric quads to start motion, then femur passively follows into hip extension
QUADRUPED ROCKING
ROCKING FORWARD PHASE from table top
feet/ankle
Joint position/motion: variable per subject
