Movement. Flashcards
Define ;
The skeletal muscle tissue and the connective tissues that make up individual muscles such as the biceps.
Muscular System.
How does skeletal muscle create movement?
Skeletal Muscle creates movement by exerting force on tendons, the tendons then pull on bones.
Do skeletal muscles push or pull on bones?
Skeletal muscles can only pull on bone, but they can’t push on bone.
TRUE OR FALSE.
Skeletal muscles generally occur in our body in pairs.
TRUE.
Skeletal muscles generally occur in our body in pairs. When one muscle in the pair contracts, or shortens, it pulls on the bone which creates movement. The opposite movement is created when the opposing muscle contracts.
What is anatomical position?
The anatomical position is when a human stands straight with their hands at their sides and the palms of their hands facing forward.
Which plane is described?
Runs vertically through the middle of the body dividing it into right and left halves.
Sagittal or Median Plane.
Which plane is described?
Runs vertically and divides the body into front (anterior) and back (posterior) halves.
Frontal or Coronal Plane.
Which plane is described?
Runs horizontally and divides the body into upper (superior) and lower (inferior) halves.
Horizontal or Transverse Plane.
