What does a motivated work force result in
Increased output ( extra effort by staff) Improved quality ( staff take greater pride in work ) A higher level of retention ( workers want to stay with firm and don't want to take days off
What is motivation
Way a business can encourage staff to give their best
Want is monetary motivation
Motivation of staff with a money reward at the end of it
What is time rate pay
Staff paid for number of hours they have worked
What is overtime pay
When staff are rewarded bonuces for working hours over the normal hours
What is piece rate
Staff paid for the number of items they have made
Commission pay what is it
Staff are paid for a number of items they sell e.g. Car salesmen
What is salary
When staff are paid monthly no matter how many hours they have worked
What is performance related pay
Staff get a bonus for meeting targets set by their managers
What is profit sharing
When staff are paid a percentage of the profit earned by the business
What are fringe benefits
Payments in kindness e.g. A company car or staff discount
What is non monetary pay
Staff motivated without any money at the end e.g. Maybe for improved working conditions
What is job rotation
When staff switch between different tasks to do of similar difficulty
What is job enlargement
Staff are given more tasks to do to do of a similar difficulty
What is job enrichment
Staff are given more interesting and challenging tasks
