What is achievement goal theory
Suggests that goals give activities purpose
What are the 3 psychological needs of SD theory
CAR
- Competence, belief in capability
- Autonomy, willingness
- Relatedness, need to connect to others
What is intrinsic motivation
Engagement of behaviour for enjoyment, personal challenges, etc
What is extrinsic motivation
Engagement of behaviour for external reasons outside the person, i.e. money
What is amotivation
Lack of willingness to engage in behaviour
Name 3 levels of motivation
Global
Contextual
Situational
Define global motivation
The degree of motivation experienced by an individual across behaviour domains
Define contextual motivation
A relatively stable level of motivation experienced across a particular context
Define situational motivation
Motivation experienced in a particular activity at a specific time
What is mastery (task)
Focus of perfecting a task and learning from mistakes
What is performance (ego)
Focus on being superior to others and not looking stupid in front of others
