When one manager makes the decisions alone. Better with unskilled workers

Vrooms 3 steps
1.Valance- a worthwhile reard e.g. money
2.Instrumentality- Belief that action will lead to a result
3.Expectancy- how likely are they to achieve the result
What is vrooms theory
That staff will maximise there happiness and satisfaction
What was Herzberg’s theory
That a firm must have basic hygine factors( pay, group dynamic, environment) before they can motivate staff woth motivating factors( promotion opportunities and job design)
What is Taylor’s theory
That workers are like machienes and get payed to work and not to think and are motivated simply by financial factors
What is Mayo’s theory
That having a strong group dynamic is more motivation and productive for staff than any other factor even money.
What is Maslows theory of motivation
Each person has 5 stages of needs and once you achieve one you will be motivated by the chance to reach the next one.
5 stages of Maslows hierarchy of needs.
In order least to most
1.Phyciological- minium wage for food and water
2.Saftey needs- job security e.g. full time employee not part time
3.Social needs- belong to a team by going out for meals etc
4.Esteem needs- bonuses, promotion
5.Self-actulisation- promotion control over job
