Motion and Time Flashcards
What is speed?
The amount of distance covered by an object in an unit time is known its speed.
Speed Formula and its basic units.
Speed/Time and the basic unit of time is seconds and the basic unit of speed is m/s.
Define Non-unform motion.
If the speed of an object keeps fluctuating when it is moving in an straight path it is said to be in non-unform motion.
Define uniform motion.
When an object moving along an straight path moves at a constant speed it is said to be at unform motion.
In which motion does an pendulum move.
Oscillatory motion.
What is bob.
The bob is the metallic ball attached at the end of the hanging wire.
What is time period.
The time period take by an pendulum to cover one oscillation is know as the time period.
Define oscillations.
One oscillation is counted when the bob moves from one extreme position (A) to another extreme position and then back to (A).
What are quartz clocks.
The watches which have an electric circuit and have 1 or more cells to operate are known as quartz clocks. It measures time more accurate then clocks in olden times.
What is 1 microsecond and 1 nanosecond equal to.
1 Microsecond=1s/ 1 million
1 Nanosecond= 1s/ 1 billion
Clocks which were used in olden times.
Sundial in Jantar Mantar, Delhi. Water clock and sand clock.
What is speedometer and odometer.
Speedometer is an meter which tells the speed in km/h and odometer is the meter which measures the distance covered by the car.
