Electric Current and its Effects Flashcards
What does the longer line int he symbol of the cell represent.
The longer line represents the positive terminal and the shorter line represents the negative terminal.
What is a battery?
A combination of 2 or more cells is known as a battery. A battery can be connected by either wires or an battery holder.
What is element ?
The coil wire present in a object is know its element.
What are ISI marks?
It is a standard mark on products which assures the given specifications about the device.
What are CFLs ?
CFL are compact fluorescent lamps they are electricity efficient.W
What LEDs?
LED, light emitting diode which emit a given intensity of light and consume way less electricity than CFL.
What do CFL contain?
CFL contains mercury vapor which is toxic in nature due to which it need to be disposed off safely.
What are fuses?
Fuse is an safety device it contains a wire which is made to break when the excess flow current starts.
What are MCB?
MCB, Miniature Circuit Breaker it is a safety device which works on the magnetic effect. These are placed in the place of fuses. They automatically turn off when excess flow starts and when it turns off you can turn it on again by just flipping it up.
What is an Electromagnet?
Electromagnet is a magnet which work on the magnetic effect of electric current. When around an iron nail, copper wire is coiled around and the current starts flowing the nail will start behaving like an electromagnet.
