Motion Flashcards
What is the equation for constant speed?
Speed = distance travelled(m)/time taken(s)
What is velocity?
Speed in a given direction.
What is displacement?
Distance travelled in a given direction.
Talk about a car moving around a round-a-bout in terms of velocity.
Continually changing velocity because the direction in which it is moving is constantly changing.
What is the equation for acceleration?
Acceleration = change in velocity / time taken for the change.
What terms are used to describe an object slowing down?
Deceleration or negative acceleration.
Regarding the acceleration equation, how do you calculate the change in velocity?
Final velocity - initial velocity.
What does the gradient of the line on a velocity time graph represent?
Acceleration.
What does the line under the velocity - time graph show?
Distance travelled in a given direction (displacement).
What does the gradient on a distance-time graph show?
Speed.
What is the acceleration of an object?
It’s change in velocity per second.
