The beatitudes are found in the gospel of Matthew (Matthew 5: 1-12

1.Blessed are the poor in spirit , for theirs is the kingdom of heaven - reminds Christian’s of the importance of having faith in Jesus
2.Blessed are those who mourn , for they will be comforted - reminds Christian’s o say sorry when they do something that is morally wrong
3.Blessed are the meek , for they will inherit the earth - reminds Christian of the importance of being gentle and kind.
4.Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness , for they will be satisfied - reminds Christian’s to always do the right thing

Salat means prayer. Muslims pray 5 times a day to Allah. On Fridays they attend communal prayer in a mosque. They say their prayers in Arabic and use aids to pray. Before prayer Muslims preform rituals. Muslims pray facing towards Mecca

Zakat means charity. During the month of fasting Muslims preform charity donation. They are asked to donate 2.5 % of their savings to charity. Muslims believe this is a way to share their wealth to Allah. This reminds them to follow the golden rule and to reach out to those less fortunate .

A way of living based on the message of Jesus. The kingdom of god represents Christian values such as love and forgiveness

A given rule or set of rules that guides moral behaviour

Shahadah means faith. It refers o what Muslims believe in. It states there is one god called Allah and prophet Mohammad his messanger. A Muslims tries to say these words in Arabic everyday as much as possible. When a Muslim child is born these are the first words that are whispered into their ear.

Sawn means fasting. Every year during the month of Ramadan Muslim fasting during daylight hours. This is a sacrifice they make for their faith. Ramadan lasts between 29-30 days. It’s reminds them to think of people who do not have access to food daily

Hajj means pilgrimage. Once in a lifetime , Muslims are encouraged to visit Mecca, in Saudi Arabia on pilgrimage. Mecca is the city where prophet Muhammad was born and raised. The pilgrimage last 3 days. During this time , pilgrims pray and reflect.
