1. 104 Japanese undergraduates put in same sex groups of 4 had to say aloud which of 3 lines matched stimulus
2. Rps wore sunglasses to prevent glare wth 3rd rps in each group wearing different glasses on 12 of 18 critical trials the other 6 trials were neutral
3. Rps then answered questionnaire

Majority of rps who saw correct sized comparison lines answered incorrectly 8.2% of time no gender differences
Females similar to aschs with majority conforming on critical trials 4.41% of time but male conformity was not noticeable
