MOPS Flashcards
How are non-CFP crossers dealt with (civil or mil)? (x8)
- Planner shall create blocking strip
- Hook blocking strip in Departure bay and use LAD to assess levels
- Enter level as NFL and accept; a TDL will appear in pending bay
- Use ‘Show Crosser’ to point out to tac
- Planner shall confirm clearance with tac
- Tac will tick the DOF box to acknowledge (TDL will move to incomm bay)
- Planner to record crossing clearance any conditions in remarks field of EFS
- Planner to tick once clearance passed
How do Swanwick Mil block more than one level for a CFP and how is this dealt with?
- Swanwick Mil will submit one CFP for each level
- If multiple CFPs are offered, only the first level will be probed by iFatcs - Planner will need to create blockers for remaining levels
- Only the EFS that corresponds to the first offer will be fully populated with route info - all others will be departure and destination only (recommended to use same callsign)
What are the 4 types of blocking strips?
- Level block; blocks level across whole sector
- Custom route block
- Defined route block ; selectable pre-defined route eg. TACAN
- Radar corridor block
What would actions be if Swanwick Mil request clearance for a non-electronic CFP?
- Create a custom route blocker
- Planner and tac agree course of action
- Planner agrees coordination with Mil
- If no blocker raised, Planner or Tac may wish to manually recognise
When holding, what actions on the iFacts checklist should the sector team complete? (x5)
- Select ‘Hold Fix’ in the hold lists window and open hold palette
- Enter the fix hold in NAS
- Tac ticks hold button for a/c cleared to hold
- Flights shall be manually added to hold palette
- Us e paper iFacts hold sequencing sheet to record passing of OCTs/EATs as required
Once a flight has been given an onward clearance after holding, what are the actions on the iFacts checklist? (x3)
- Cancel hold in iFacts tools by unticking the hold button and populating GREX route
- Manually remove flight from hold palette
- Cancel NAS fix hold
What type of hold should be used for AC - AC/TC/PC vs AC - OLDI?
AC - AC/TC/PC = fix hold as this breaks coordination sequence and blanks XFL
OLDI = present position hold if ACT not sent, fix hold if it has
For which flights does iFACTS create trajectories?
Recognised flights
Which flights are recognised in iFACTS? (x4)
Flights for which coordination exists (including CFPs)
RSEs (except Military RSEs)
Blockers
Manually recognised flights
Can non-FDP flights be recognised?
No
Which factors are not taken into account by iFACTS? (x5)
- Mode C intruders
- Danger areas/non-activated radar corridors
- Sector boundaries
- Delegated airspace
- Procedures (eg RFC, standing agreements etc)
If an aircraft has not been paired in FDP, what information does iFACTS use to produce a trajectory?
Flight plan information with no knowledge of actual position
What does iFACTS use to create trajectories for paired flights?
Flight plan route and tactical data
What is the ‘5 minutes back on track’ functionality?
An aircraft on a heading and not yet incomm will continue it’s track for 5 mins before resuming its flight planned route
What is the planners responsibility regarding red interactions in the SM?
Interrogate any red that the SM indicates will occur in less than 3 mins and confirm that the tac is taking appropriate action to ensure separation
Is it possible for a red interaction to appear above the 5nm line?
Yes, in areas where 10nm is required
If the planner accepts flights with less than PRS what must they do?
Use the point out functionality from either LAD or SM to advise the tac
Does iFACTS use SCLs when building trajectories?
Yes
Does iFACTS take text entered into the SCC and MSO into consideration when building trajectories?
No
Can initial offers be made with an SCC/SCL?
Yes but if subject to a standing agreement, phone call must be made
If a direct routing has been coordinated, does this need to be annotated in the SCC?
No because it will be reflected in the tools and TDB
May the planner enter tactical data into iFACTS?
In exceptional circumstances (eg. workstation failure, emergency, overload) the planner may enter tactical data following agreement with tactical. GS shall be made aware
What does CPDLC stand for?
Controller pilot datalink communication
Above what level can CPDLC be used?
FL195
