What is mania?
A period of abnormally high emotion and activity.
What is a mood disorder?
The disturbance of the motion. They are magnifications of our normal reactions.
Explain major depressive disorder.
It is the most common disability in the world. It is classified when five out of the following nine symptoms have been present for two or more weeks. One of the first two symptoms must be included in those five.
1) depressed mood most of the day, nearly every day
2) little interest or pleasure in almost all activities
3) significant changes in weight or appetite
4) sleeping more or less than usual
5) feelings or worthlessness or guilt
6) fatigue or loss of energy
7) recurring thoughts of death or suicide.
The symptoms must produce distress or impaired functioning to qualify as indicators of major depressive disorder her. There must be no apparent reason for these emotions. It feels like an inescapable wait affecting every aspect of life.
Explain bipolar disorder
Alternate between the hopelessness of depression and the overexcited and unreasonably optimistic state of mania. During mania a person may go long periods without sleeping may experience racing thoughts maybe easily distracted and may set impossible goals. Mood is generally follow a cyclical cycle.
What are the causes of mood disorders.
There is no single explanation. Biological and environmental factors interact. Stress also seems to play a roll.
What are the biological factors of a mood disorder?
Heredity – jeans do not disturb and disorder but we may inherit a predisposition.
Brain function – the brain is less active during major depression certain neurotransmitters appear to be out of balance in the case of a mood disorder.
Explain the social cognitive factors of a mood disorder
Psychologist look at the way we think, the situations we find ourselves in, and the way we feel. The social and cognitive factors actually affect brain chemistry.
What is learned helplessness
People develop a sense of helplessness when subjected to unpleasant events over which they have little or no control. They give up and no longer try to improve their situation because they learned in the past that efforts will not work.
What are attributions?
When things go wrong we will try to explain them. It turns out that depressed people are likely to make attributions.

This happened because of my actions not because of the actions of someone else or because of the circumstance

My explanation applies to many areas of my life
