What is bipolar disorder?

- severe mental illness, in which episodes of mania are experienced with or without episodes of depression

- Behavioural component = the way the attitude influences how we act or behave
- Cognitive component = involve a persons belief/ knowledge about an attitude object

Advantages - makes diagnosis less subjective - sensitive to change - can be repeated to assess progress - covers ABC, aspects of depression Disadvantages - self-reporting bias - may not cover all aspects
