A photoelectric device to detect levels of oxygen saturation
Vital signs monitor
Displays blood pressure, respiration rate, temp, blood gases, cardiac rhythms
Pulmonary artery catheter (Swan-Ganz catheter)
Thin catheter inserted in the internal jugular or femoral vein and guided into pulmonary artery; provides information about pulmonary artery pressure (PAP), right arterial pressure, and pulmonary capillary wedge pressure (PCWP)

Inserted directly in stomach through abdominal incision
Intravenous feeding; total parenteral nutrition; hyperalimentation devices
Feeding through intravenous techniques to provide large amounts of nutrients for tissue growth
Foley catheter
Indwelling to bladder, held in place by balloon
External catheter
Condom held in place with adhesive or padded strap
Suprapubic catheter
Inserted in the bladder through an incision in the abdomen and the bladder
Chest drains
Inserted into chest and connected to a mechanical gravity based suction system; indicated to remove air, blood, purulent matter from patients chest or pleural cavity
Ostomy devices (Ileostomy, Colostomy)
Surgically placed in abdomen to allow removal of feces; pouch attached for waste
