Monitor Intrepretation Flashcards
Difference in systolic upstroke between pressures measured in proximal aorta and radial artery
Steeper systolic upstroke in radial artery and higher systolic peak with blunting of dicrotic notch and lower diastolic trial. Lower MAP given smaller surface area under tracing on arterial waveform
Strong Ion Difference
Strong cations - strong anions. Normal is ~40-41. If decreased, metabolic acidosis. If increased, metabolic alkalosis.
TEG Intrepretation
R time is the time it takes to achieve start of clot formation. If increased, give FFP. K is time to achieve clot firmness (fibrin). If increased, give cryoprecipitate. Alpha angle is the speed of fibrin build up. Give cryoprecipitate. Maximum amplitude is clot strength. If high, indicates hyper coagulable state. If low, may require platelets. LY30 is the percent of thrombolysis after clot formation. If high, administer TXA or amicar.
