A
Sx of hay fever or perennial allergic rhinitis

dose of Mometasone
A
2 sprays in each nostril until Sx are controlled
Then 1 spray into each nostril daily

max duration of Mometasone
A
Max 3 months Tx

age restriction
A
over 18 years

Q
contraindications
A
- U18yrs
- Tx more than 3 months
- Hypersensitivity to ingredients
- Untreated localised infection around/within nose
- Recent nasal surgery or trauma
- Steroid use -> caution

referral for mometasone
A
- No improvement of Sx after 14 days of use
- Sx persistent for 3 months

s/e
A
- Epistaxis (nose bleeds)
- Headache
- Pharyngitis
- URTI
- Nasal discomfort, ulceration
- Irritated throat
- Taking CYP3A4 inhibitors could be at inc risk of systemic s/e

A
- can use oral meds and eye drops in additional to relieve Sx
- s/e
