Q

What is momentum equal to?
Mathematically, what does it mean for Momentum to be conserved?
What are the units involved?

A

> p = mv

Q

What is impulse? What equation represents impulse?

A

> Impulse is the product of force and change in time

> [FΔt = Δmv] OR [FΔt = mv - mu]

Q

What makes a force elastic? (conversely, what makes it inelastic?)

A

> A force is elastic if kinetic energy (Ek) and momentum (mv) are BOTH conserved
[Ek₁ = Ek₂] and [m₁v₁ = m₂v₂]
In an inelastic force, only momentum is conserved (kinetic energy is transferred)
