MOLECULAR GEOMETRY Flashcards

1
Q

what is the vsepr theory?

A

the most common way to predict molecular geometry is using the vsepr theory. according to this theory, electron pairs around a central atom repel each other and try to get as far as possible. this replusion minimizes the repulsion and determines the shape of the molecule.
