16
Q

why does the bond angle decrease, whenever we have a lone pair, instead of a bonding pair?

A

This is because lone pairs, repel more than bonding pairs. This means the distance between the bonding pairs will shorten, thus, decreasing the bond angle.

17
Q

what is the bond angle in a linear molecule

A

180 degrees.

18
Q

what is the bond angle in a trigonal planar?

A

120 degrees

19
Q

what is the bond angle in a tetrahedral molecule?

A

109.5

20
Q

what is the bond angle in a bent V shape (2 bonding pars, and one lone pair) molecule?

A

118 degrees

21
Q

what is the bond angle in a trigonal pyramidal molecule?

A

107 degrees.

22
Q

what is the bond angle in a bent (2 bonding pairs, and 2 lone pairs) molecule?

A

104.5 degrees.

23
Q

what is the bond angle in a trigonal bipyramidal?

A

120 degrees, and 90 degrees.

24
Q

what is the bond angle in a seesaw molecule?

A

between 100-119 degrees
and
between 85-89 degrees.
