Jesus went to the region of Caesarea Philippi.

Jesus asked, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
jesus said, “What do you think I am?” What did Simon Peter answer? Jesus replied to him and said, “Good for you Simon, son of John.”
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah.”
What did Jesus call Peter? Why?
Jesus called him Peter, which means rock, because Peter’s faith was the foundation upon which Jesus would build his church.
What is Jesus going to give Peter?
Jesus promised to give Peter the keys of the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus ordered them not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.
