structures that INDICATE THE MEANING OF MEDIA MESSAGES to an audience. This is also like SPECIAL TOOLS AND STYLES MEDIA USES such as pictures,
symbols, and how things are shown.
Media Language
THE WAYS IN WHICH MEDIA REPRESENTS REALITY. It is how the process of media creation and production REPRESENTS REALITY THROUGH the decisions and PERSPECTIVES OF ITS CREATORS
Representation
SYSTEM OF SIGNS AND SYMBOLIC MEANINGS embedded in a media and
information text.
Codes
THE ESTABLISHED AND SOCIALLY ACCEPTED WAYS OF DOING THINGS.
Convention
In media, these are the STYLES and approaches that have been STANDARDIZED INTO THE CONTENT. These are also like the USUAL TRICKS OR HABITS IN MEDIA.
Convention
A SYSTEM OF CLASSIFICATION of works of art, BASED ON ESTABLISHED CONVENTIONS.
Genre
MANNER OF PRESENTATION AND STYLE that provides a structure for media and information texts. The STRUCTURE AND STYLE IN WHICH A MOVIE IS PRESENTED including the
organization of scenes and storytelling techniques.
Format
INCLUDE SOUND, CAMERA ANGLES, TYPES OF SHOTS, AND LIGHTING.
Technical Codes
INCLUDE THE LANGUAGE, DRESS OR ACTIONS OF CHARACTERS, OR ICONIC SYMBOLS that are easily understood.
Symbolic Codes
In the media context, refers to a STANDARD OR NORM that acts as a rule GOVERNING BEHAVIOR
Convention
The INFORMATION SENT from a source to a receiver.
Messages
The GROUP OF CONSUMERS for whom a media message was constructed as well as ANYONE ELSE WHO IS EXPOSED TO THE MESSAGE.
Audience
PEOPLE ENGAGED IN THE PROCESS OF CREATING and putting together MEDIA CONTENT to make a finished media product.
