What are the 5 parts of the communication process
Sender, Message, Mode of Transmission, Receiver, Decoder
- Person wishing to transmit a message
Sender
- Actual format of the communication effort, including verbal and nonverbal signals, symbols and language transmitted
Message
Vehicle by which a message is sent: oral, written, nonverbal, recorded, or third party
Mode of Transmission
Target of the message, either an individual or group
Receiver
How a receiver translates the message
Decoding
News media (newspapers, journals, magazines, TV, and radio), professional colleagues,
salespersons, gossip grapevine
Informal Communications
Official communication messages (e.g. memos, directives, work orders) generated by business activities of organizations
Formal Communiations
Channeled through the hierarchy network of the organization (top ⟷ bottom)
Vertical
Occurs in the course of normal exchange of services, information, and work orders, when managers and staff talk to each other as peers
Horizontal
Both parties can simultaneously exchange ideas and information and receive spontaneous feedback
Dynamic Communications
Don’t allow the recipient and
the sender to respond instantaneously to each other
