Module 5: Lesson 2 - Receptive skills lesson plan Flashcards
Refresher: what stages are involved in a skills lesson?
- Pre-: this stage consists of setting the scene and preparing the learners for the main skill.
- While-: in this stage, the students actually read, write, listen, or speak. It is the main section of the lesson.
- Post-: this is a logical extension of the previous activity, for example, a group discussion or teacher feedback.
When is the PPP vs Skills lesson plans used?
PPP: language system lessons, such as those focused on learning grammar or vocabulary. The material is first presented, then practiced in a controlled setting, and then produced in a more unrestrained context.
Skils: focused on reading, writing, listening, and speaking, are usually structured in the three stages. Pre-stage, while-stage, and post-stage.
Refresher: Skills lesson plan for BE (similar to GE)
Scope: all the necessary information about the aim of the lesson, the profile of the learners, and how many there will be.
Pre-skill: familiarizing students with the topic of the lesson.
While-skill: focused purely on the skill, eg. listening.
Post-listening: examine topic in more detail, focus on something that got their attention.
