Module 4 Flashcards
What is a Population Parameter?
A numerical measure such as the mean, median, mode, ranges, variance, standard deviation
What is a Sample Statistic?
A summary Measure calculated for a sample data set
What is Sampling Variability?
The varying of a statistic from sample to sample
What is Sampling distribution?
The distribution of all the values of a statistic
How is the Sampling error calculated?
The sample proportion - the population proportion
What is the Sampling Distribution?
The histogram we’d get if we could see all the sample proportions
What is the Standard error?
The standard deviation of the sampling distribution
What is the Sample distribution mean equal to?
The population mean
What is required for a sample size to be considered large?
np > 10 and n(1-p) > 10
What are the two assumptions for the distribution of sample proportions?
The independence assumption and the Sample Size assumption?
What is the Independence assumption?
The sample values must be independent of each other
What is the Sample size assumption?
The sample size, n, must be large enough
What does the CLT say?
If random observation are drawn from any population with a mean and standard deviation where it is unknown weather the distribution is normal or not, if the sample size is large, the sampling distribution of the mean is normal distributed
