Direct
-CONFRONTING the person CAUSING HARM.
-riskiest approach.
What NOT to do using the Direct approach?
Avoid speaking on behalf of the person who has suffered harm.
Can be unintentionally dehumanizing and take away a person’s agency.
Instead of saying, “You hurt their feelings,” say, “ I’m offended, upset or hurt because….”
Nurses identify, and when possible, take action to address barriers affecting a client’s ability to consent to care.
