Top down change
A change initiated or conceived by the leaders in an organization and flows down through the hierarchy to the lower levels of the organization
Bottom of change
A change that is initiated within the lower levels of an organization and are pushed up to the organization leaders
Five P’s of change communication
Purpose, Why do we have to do this?
picture, What will it look like when we reach our goal?
plan, How will we get there step-by-step?
part, What can or must I do to help us move forward?
prize, What impact with a change have on the organization individuals users and others?
Foster employee participation
You foster employee participation through communication, acknowledging emotions, providing training, having Safetynet such as beta testing trial periods in contingency plans, participation, building support, and aligning goals
Scientific management
The principles of practice of Frederick Taylor‘s management theory based on time and motion studies to eliminate waste and movement and improve labor productivity.
Behavioral approach to management
The study of human behavior at work, such as motivation, conflict, and group dynamics, as a way to improve productivity.
Hawthorne effect
The phenomenon that individuals that are being experimentally measured modify their behavior simply because they are being measured.
Support tools of change management
Types of support for change management: training, new equipment, new software, new structures, additional staff, and rewards
Return on investment (ROI)
The ratio of income earned on the investment to the investment made to earn that income.
Smart goals
Specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time bound
Key performance indicators (KPI’s)
A set up measures that an organization uses to gauge performance against Strategic and operational goals.
