What are the possible flap designs for working on the palate?

A

Simple incision

  • Only works if structure you want to reach is superfical
  • If you create an oral-antral fistula you won’t be able to repair it

Full palatal

  • Safest flap
  • Incise around the gingiva from molar to molar and lift up entire palate

Full palatal but with a semicircular cut anteriorly
-Leaves the nasopalatine canal in place

A
