Module 2 Unit 2 - Superposition of pulses Flashcards
What is a super position?
When two waves move through the same space , they add algebraically
What is an interference?
Is when two or more pulses (and waves)interact with each other in the same space and at the same time.
Explain the principle of superposition.
Where pulses cross, the combined disturbance at any point is equal to the sum of the disturbances.
What are the two types of interferences?
Constructive and destructive.
What is a constructive interference?
It’s when two pulses meet, resulting in a bigger pulse.
What is a destructive interference?
Is when two pulses meet, resulting in a smaller pulse
What do constructive interference result in ?
Bigger pulse - Reinforcement
What do destructive interference result in?
Smaller pulse - Concelation
