Module 2 Unit 1 - Transverse pulse Flashcards
1
Q
What is pulse?
A
Is a single disturbance that moves in a medium
2
Q
What is a transverse pulse?
A
A transverse pulse is a single disturbance which is perpendicular to the direction in which the pulse is moving.
3
Q
Describe apulse.
A
It has a pulse length ,disturbance(displacement) & amplitude.
4
Q
What is a disturbance?
A
How far and in what direction a point or particle in the medium has removed from the rest position.
5
Q
What is an amplitude ?
A
A measure of how big a pulse is.Or you could say it’s the maximum disturbance of a particle from its rest or equilibrium position
6
Q
Describe the movement of particles in a transverse pulse ?
A
They move up and down (perpendicular to the direction of propagation of the pulse)
