- Core of the word, can give basic meaning (Ex: Gastr)
- Word part attached to the end of the word to modify its meaning
- word attached to the beginning of the word root
- This is a word part, usually an “o”, used between a root and a suffix to ease pronouncation

- Read meaning of the medical term starting from suffix and moving back tot he beginning of the term and across
