Module 1.6 - Dark side of computing Flashcards
1
Q
Information accuracy
A
- Poor training- If worker is not trained to use the system there is higher chance of mistakes and istrusting the system
- Poor procedures- If procedures that capture data are faulty it will lead to mistrust in the system/programme
- Bad programming- If there are many logic errors then the system/programme will be difficult to use and cause mistrust
2
Q
Consequences to inaccurate information
A
- Break in user trust - If the system of the computer is also problematic the user will avoid using it because they do not trust it
- Delayed/incorrect decision making- People rely on computers to process data for decision making, if the processing is faulty then the decision will be incorrect or delayed
3
Q
Data protection
A
- Control access to physical data- Not giving people access to folders and files in your office or drawers
- Control access to computers- Lock and restrict access to computers in rooms, disable the screen when you leave the device, restrict ability to connect wirelessly, make access require a login
- Limit portable storage- Avoid using physical storage like flashdrives or CD as they are easily lost, stolen, and damaged
4
Q
Crimes
A
- Social engineering- Using deception into manipulating or tricking people into giving up personal details
- Computer misuse- Any point where computer resources are used outside the authorisation of the owner or without permission
- Invasion of privacy- abusing someones privacy
5
Q
Malware consequences
A
- Financial cost- Indirect cost to malware is the money spent on software to prevent it
- Direct cost is Ransomeware- You have to pay the hacker a ransom fee to have your data accessible again
- Productivity loss- Lots of time is spent trying to fix the infection, if it’s ransomeware the data can be permanently encrypted and lost forever
- Personal implications- Distrust, paranoia, inconvinience
