Modulation Technique Flashcards
What are characteristics of Modulation?
allow for a continuous wave to carry intelligence( comms. and data).
waveform can be interrupted so that pulses( which represent a code)
pulses are transmitted over a high-frequency carrier wave to carry an audio signal.
What is Modulation?
allow the transmission of a message signal inside another signal that can be physically transmitted.
What is demodulation?
breaking down a signal from their combined form.
What are 3 characteristics of a modulated signal?
amplitude, frequency, phase
What is amplitude?
the size of a signal
What is frequency?
the number of occurrences of the same event during a time period
What is phase?
the time a signal requires to complete a full cycle
What is frequency-shift key?
used by the Navy with data circuits at a baud rate (signal speed) of just 75 bps.
What is QAM?
Quadrature amplified modulation used by the Navy for digital communications systems, radar systems, and single baseband modulators.
combines 2 AM signals into a signal channel and have the same signals but differs by 90 degrees
