What did Hazrat Muhammad Rasool-Allah Khatam-an-Nabiyeen tell his companions and why?

A

Hazrat Muhammad Rasool-Allah Khatam-an-Nabiyeen told his companions to be moderate in their lives and in their dealings with others. When he found that some of his companions prayed all night and observed fast for several months continuously, he told them not to overdo it.
‘I pray but abo sleep; I fast but also eat, even though I am truly afraid of Allah. After all, your bodies also have a right on you’

Q

How can we practice moderation?

A

In everyday life we must practice moderation. When we speak, it should not be so loud as to be ear splitting nor so soft that the other person cannot hear. Similarly, we must spend our money moderately, we should eat enough to fill our stomachs and not to become gluttons as overeating would cause health problems.

Q

What are we told in the Qur’an that goes against moderation because it is often misunderstood? What is not recommended in Islam and what does the Quran teach us to pray for?

A

Even though we are told in the Qur’an that human beings are made for Allah’s worship, it does not mean we deny ourselves all our basic needs. Muslims are not expected to give up their daily routine completely. Priesthood or self-denial is not recommended in Islam. The Qur’an teaches us to pray for a good life both here in this world and the hereafter.
