Q
What is a model in science?
A
- A physical object, e.g. a bridge or construction.
- A theory that consists of a number of ideas and diagrams, e.g. the atomic model.
- A set of mathematical equations through which complicated phenomena can be explained, e.g. the gas laws.

Q
What is the particle model of matter theory?
A
- All matter is made up of small particles.
- The particles are constantly moving.
- There are empty spaces between the particles.
- There are attractive forces and repulsive forces between the particles.
- The particles constantly collide against each other and against the sides of the container without causing the kinetic energy to be transformed into other forms of energy.
- The average kinetic energy of all the particles remains constant, providing the temperature remains constant.
