What is the definition of UW
Activities conducted to enable a resistance movement or insurgency to coerce, disrupt, or overthrow a government or occupying power by operating through or with an underground, auxiliary, and guerrilla force in a denied area.
What constitutes a denied area?
An area under hostile control in which friendly forces cannot operate
What are the end states of UW?
Coerce

How and why does a resistance normally begin?
Resistance movements usually begin due to dissatisfaction with political, economic, social administrative, and/or other conditions.
