Q

JCM (job characteristics model) & its cons

A

Maximizes good stuff, minimizes bad
BUT
Not every good thing can be maximized at the same time
some people don’t like feedback or autonomy
SP do like turnover
SP want more money 4 more inputs
(Not infallible)

Q

Job design options

A

Enlargement: increase tasks & responsibilities (+SV)
BUT (less specialization, over-enlargement = overwhelming, training cost, salary demand)

Enrichment: allow planning, execution & eval control (+ autonomy, feedback, TI)
BUT (lack of experience & direction can lead to poor results; if work conditions are not comfortable, this won’t work, specially TI)
