Helps overcome reluctance to become involved with SF by providing a single telephone line for crime reporting while allowing witnesses to remain anonymous
What steps should you take prior to placing your assigned vehicle into service?
Inspect your assigned vehicles for any damage or missing equipment, and inspect the read seat area of contraband or evidence
What are the 4 factors you should consider before making the decision to drive under emergency conditions?
- your driving abilities, traffic volume, time of day, and potential hazard or liability to yourself and the public
- the call involves a life threatening situation or a violent crime is in progress
- you have sufficient information to justify emergency driving
- even when responding to a “patrolman needs assistance” call you must bear in mind while a rapid response is important you must arrive at the scene safely

Use to signal other drivers on the road that an emergency condition exists and the right of way should be given to your patrol vehicle
After deciding to stop a vehicle, what is the last piece of information you should provide BDOC?
Request backup if needed
What is the second step you should take when approaching a vehicle during a traffic stop?
Approach from the left side of the vehicle unless the situation dictates a right side approach is acceptable for officer safety purposes

Look directly at the driver to get the drivers attention, extend the arm closest to the vehicle and point at the driver with the index finger, raise your hand at the wrist, palm out
What are the standard whistle signal?
One long blast for stop, two short blasts for go, and several short blasts for attention
