When do you need a TEE for a patient that needs mitral valve repair?

A

when TTE is insufficient to determine either the exact severity or the mechanism of mitral regurgitation (primary versus secondary)

If TTE is enough then you DONT have to have a TEE

Low prob of CAD

The absence of CAC, as indicated by a CAC score of 0, is associated with a decreased risk for cardiovascular events and helps lower the risk calculated by the Pooled Cohort Equation such that statin therapy is unlikely to be of benefit.
