Mitosis (+cancer) Flashcards
Define mitosis
A cell devision that results in two cells genetically identical to each other and the original cell
Importance of mitosis
-new cells formed for plant growth
-allow replacement and repair of damaged tissue
Interphase
Not a part of mitosis
DNA replication occurs
Metaphase
-Chromosomes move to the equator of cell
-chromosomes are attached to the spindle fires at the Centromere
Propose
-Chromatin network unwinds to form visible chromosomes
-chromosome is made up of cromatids attached to each other by a centomere
-centrosome spilts into centiokes (that move to the poles
-spindle Fibre holds chromosomes in position
Anaphase
-Centromes split
-spindle fires pull daughter chromosomes towards the pole of the cell
-4 chromosomes present each cell, 8 as a pair
-daughter chromosomes arrive at poles of the cells to form chromatic material
-nucleur membrane forms around chromatin material
Describe cancer
Results when cells in the body start to decide by mitosis in an uncontrolled manner
Treatment for cancer
Radiology
Chemotherapy
Surgeries
How to prevent canve
Don’t smoke
No excessive use of alcohol
Avoid over exposure to radiation
Dietary guidelines you must follow
Avoid obesity
Lower fat intake
High Fibre foods
Increase foods rich in vitamin A and c
