Q

What is PMAT?

A

Prophase which is the preparation of chromosomes
Metaphase when all chromosomes line up in the middle
Anaphase when the chromosomes split apart
Telophase which is the splitting into two identical daughter cells

Q

Is interphase included in mitosis or meiosis and what is it?

A

interphase occurs in neither and happens before both events. It is when the organelles are doubled in number and DNA appears to be uncoiled.

Q

What makes meiosis different to mitosis?

A

It goes through PMAT twice finally ending with 4 haploid daughter cells. During prophase 1, the chromosomes cross over which creates variation.

Q

Similarities and differences?

A

Interphase and PMAT are similar in both variations. Mitosis has no forms of events which cause variations in Prophase. Mitosis ends in 2 identical daughter cells. . Crossing over occurs in meiosi, ends in 4 haploid daughter cells, two cycles of PMAT.
