Overall there was no statistically significant difference with infection occurring in 3% of expectant and surgically managed cases and 2% of medically managed cases.
2. unscheduled surgical management was lowest in the surgical management group, followed by medical management followed by expectant management.
3. Unscheduled admissions to hospital were lowest in the surgical management group, followed by medical management, followed by expectant management.
