What is the definition of a Missing person
Any person who is reported missing and there are fears for their safety or welfare.
What do you consider when fearing for their safety?
ZAC:
Zone of safety - Person is outside their usual surroundings.
Age: Small children or elderly.
Circumstances: Usual, dangerous or suspicious.
What are the categories of Missing Persons?
- Voluntary.
- Involuntary.
- Lost due to event.
- Missing overseas.
How would you describe a voluntary missing person?
Someone who has control over their actions and has decided upon a course of actions. Eg. Runaways.
How would you describe an involuntary missing person?
Someone who is missing against their will. Eg. Kidnapping, mental health, abductions.
How would you describe a lost missing person?
Someone who is temporary disoriented. Eg. Lost at seas, in bush.
Who can make a missing person report?
Anyone, they don’t need to be a relative.

- 14 days.
- 30 days.
- 90 days.
- 1 year.
