What are the 4 main categories of missing people?
Voluntary - runaways
Involuntary - abducted
Lost - in bush, sea
Missing overseas - missing in another country
Define a missing person
Any person who is reported missing to police and whose whereabouts are unknown and there are fears for the safety, or concerns for the welfare, of that person
What are the 3 important points you must consider when a person is missing?
ZAC
Zone of safety - can they manage their surroundings? Mental / physical condition
Age - are they young / old?
Circumstances - have they recently suffered life problems, relationship break up, employment problems etc. are the circumstances suspicious, dangerous, unusual
What enquiries are possible once someone is reported missing?
Home visit Obtain a photograph Scene search Dog track Media CIB Witness relative interviews
