what is the pharmocologic cardioversion dosing and rate for amiodarone in the setting of afib?
bolus 150mg over 10 mins and then 1.0 mg/min for 6 hours, THEN 300 mg bolus and 0.5 mg/min for 18 hrs
*transition to oral dosing when able
what is the INR goal for a patient with A-Fib?
2-3 (treated with coumadin obviously)
paroxysmal Afib vs persistent vs permanent
paroxysmal = less than 7 days (usually self terminates in 48 hours)
persistent = less than 1 year
permanent
three reasons why postop a fib is not good
1) . increases hospital length of stay
2) . increase in hospital and long-term mortality
3) . increases hospital stroke risk
post-op maintanence of NSR amio dosing
400 mg BID for 5 days (10 doses), and 200 mg daily
rate and rhythm treatment of afib are equal except in two cirumstances that rhythm control is preferred
1). right sided HF
2). congestive heart failure
