why is BB given after CABG? + dosing

A

BB decreases post-op a-fib along with decreasing mortality
usually 25mg metoprolol BID (usually start at 12.5 mg)
if pt on coreg at home, start 6.25mg coreg BID

A

increases vein graft patency and then decreases cardiovascular event risk (i.e. stroke) that comes with high lipids
lipitor 40 mg hs
if pt on crestor at home start 40 mg hs
